Florida Governor Ron DeSantis collect 8.2 Million in campaign donations within a short time of 24 hours. He did this after he announced his presidential bid for 2024. This huge amount of donation is alarming and a matter of concern for former president Donald Trump who is also a nominated member of the Republican party.
The fund raised by DeSantis surpassed the amount raised by Biden during the same timeframe in 2019 when he launched his 2020 campaign. As the New York Times reported, Trump only collected around $9.5 million within six weeks of his 2024 announcement.
NYT notes that a super PAC supporting DeSantis plans a budget of $200 million. However, due to strict donation limits, campaign funds are more challenging to raise. Despite the battle of surpassing Trump in the GOP primary, DeSantis’s allies are making way for an extensive campaign. The pro-DeSantis super PAC, never BackDown, intends to employ over 2,600 field organizers by Labor Day, demonstrating their commitment to mounting a large-scale operation, as highlighted by Axios.
DeSantis faced a technical issue while launching his official campaign on Twitter space and got disruption. However, during an interview, DeSantis shows his excitement about the enthusiasm surrounding his campaign. DeSantis press sectary Pryan Griffin announces on Twitter that this particular campaign gets $1 million in a short one hour, with the total increasing. Grifiin’s later tweet is that the campaign reached an impressive $8.2 million within the first 24 hours and declared it “Our Great American Comeback!
