Last Night people of Queensland saw a rare sight of a meteor in the night sky. Astrophysicist Brad Tucker from the Australian National University (ANU) said the falling object was half a meter or a meter in size, and the traveling speed was 100,000 to 150,000 kilometers per hour.
Dr Tucker confirmed that it is a meteor because of several reasons.
The first reason is that it started small and gradually bigger in size, emitting a light glow. With its appearance in the sky, a sonic broom was heard that confirmed the presence of a meteor.The sighting of a meteor in the sky is also reported across the state, with reliable reports from Mackay in the south to Cairns in the north and even to the west. Many witnesses describe the incident with excitement and thrill.
Mark Aguis, a witness from Townsville home, saw that the sky lit up in a way like a sunrise. Light changes from white to green, eventually turning yellowish before disappearing over the horizon. A security camera also captured the bright ball that vanished within 10 seconds.
Dr Tucker mentioned that meteorites seen in the sky might be found on the ground, but they would likely appear like a small rock. The sighting of the meteor captivated the attention of many people and became a matter of discussion on social media, with hundreds of videos about meteor sightings.
